We all know about the housing shortage that the continent of Africa faces as a whole. DARE (Development Association for Renewable Energies) an NGO based in Nigeria’s key objective is to promote the understanding and use of renewable energy resources which we have in abundance. They have taken a pollution problem and turned it into an experimental structure built out of 2 litre cooldrink bottles that have been filled with sand. The project started up in June 2011 and is resistant to earthquakes, fire and the bullets and maintains a comfortable indoor temperature of 18 degrees Celsius throughout the year.
